In Room 17 this week we have been unpacking Te Whare Tapa Wha and what this means.
Te Whare Tapa Wha is a model of wellbeing and Hauora. You could think of yourself having four walls and a foundation. If you look after these four walls and actively do things to benefit these you support your health and wellbeing. If one wall is challenging you, you have the support of the other walls until it is strengthened again.
Here is an image we have been working from and looking at.
To start our writing this week we brainstormed activities, people or things that can fit into these four catergories. Taha tinana - physical (movement, looking after your body), Taha hinengaro (mental and emotional health), Taha whānau (family, friendships, social) and Taha wairua (spirital - your 'why').
Take a look at our brainstorms.
Could you have a think about these at home also? What are some examples you could use?
Have a try at designing your own Te Whare Tapa Wha and writing or talking about some ideas.
